Windows 7  connectivity issue, network and sharing center says no Internet connection when I am able to connect to the Internet,  Cannot make VPN connection get error
My company has recently purchased 17 new Dell computers with Windows 7 some 64bit and some 32 bit, I beleive about 40% of the new PCs have a bug where Windows 7 states that the computers are connected to the network but do not have Internet access. There is a yellow exclamation point and other than being an annoyance, on several of the PCs, this bug/error is stopping me from being able to setup a connection to our company VPN for mobile users mostly on the notebook PCs. I have read through the threads on this issue, I have tried to disable and enable network adapters, uninstall them and re-install them. I have tried flushing the winsock catalog, I have setup static DNS entries etc.. I would love to know how to fix this issue as I am the systems admin for this company and as we migrate more comptuers to Windows 7 I am seeing this error more and more commonly. I have called Dell the OEM provider for which we have all of this systems under warranty, but they tell me that the hardware is working properly as all of these PCs can connect to the Internet but only Windows 7 has the issue, so it is a software bug and not their problem. I need to be able to resovle this issue. ASAP as we have a new hire that needs his notebook to be able to connect to our company VPN, and any help with identifying what is causing this issue and how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

W 7 is doing following test. If the tast fails it issues yellow mark and at the same time you can access Internet: NCSI performs a DNS lookup on www.msftncsi.com, then requests http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt. This file is a plain-text file and contains only the text Microsoft NCSI. NCSI sends a DNS lookup request for dns.msftncsi.com. This DNS address should resolve to 131.107.255.255. If the address does not match, then it is assumed that the internet connection is not functioning correctly. Regards Milos

Hi, Did the issue occur recently? If so, please perform system restore first. Also, please test the issue in Safe Mode with networking to avoid any third party software confliction. If the issue doesnt occur in Safe Mode, then you can try clean boot. Niki Han TechNet Community Support
